Award Season at St. Stephen’s

Fall has been a very rewarding season for some St. Stephen’s students and it’s appropriate to take a minute and celebrate.

This award is music to our ears. Seven Middle and Upper School orchestra students excelled during live auditions and earned a seat to perform in the 2023-24 Texas Music Educators Association All Region Orchestras this November. They will take part in a three day clinic with a guest conductor, and then perform at Lake Travis High School’s performing arts center. Congratulations goes to the following Spartans:

Middle School
Sophia Holland (8th grade, violin) Placed #1 in the region!
Caden Chen (7th grade, violin)
Athena Toba-Keith (7th grade, violin)
Charlotte Elwell (6th grade, violin)

Upper School
Sam Shea (9th grade, violin)
Kevin Li (11th grade, cello)
Patrick Lemuel (12th grade cello)

Will Burkhart ‘24 was a semifinalist in the Texas Hall of Fame Business awards in the entrepreneur category for his self-produced podcast Studying Success. Will is the only high school student in Texas to make it to the semifinalist level. Congratulations!

St. Stephen’s ninth grader Elle Wallace '27 received an honorable mention in the New York Times’ 14th Annual Summer Reading Contest. Teenagers select a story of their choice in the NYT and answer the questions, "What got your attention in the Times this week? And why?" Elle shared her thoughts about an article related to television and women’s rage. The ninth grader wants to pursue writing as a career, and says her submission was selected out of 1200 entries. Way to go, Elle!
